ABOUT RIDGE VIEW LODGE
Ridge View Lodge is a "sister property" to
Blue Mountain Lodge, located higher up the same street as Blue Mountain Lodge. It is a totally custom designed hybrid log and heavy timber mountain home - no other one is like it! The name reflects the fact that you can enjoy the views of surrounding mountian ridges and Mt. LeConte on a clear day.
It took us about 3 years of drawing plans, trying out ideas, and verifying every little detail before we took the plans to the architects to be finalized.
Our must-have features:
Heavy timber frame scissor trusses supporting the roof
Front "prow" wall of windows on all 3 levels to maximize the view of surrounding ridge and Mt. Leconte
A lower level walk out to the yard
Main level design geared toward increased accessibility (36" wide inetrior doors, grab bars in the master bathroom, easy low threshold access to decks) for the guests who prefer fewer stairs; future handicap access ramp
Master bathroom with heated floors, separate 60" shower and a whirlpool tub
Open concept family and dining room with a gas log fireplace
Dining room with custom farm-style table to seat 12
Upper level will feature secondary master king bedroom with acess to the bathroom plus a queen bedroom, open loft area with a pool table overlooking the family room and a picture window with a view of mountain ridge
Lower level with 2nd fireplace, kitchenette, games, TV viewing area plus a queen bedroom, a bunk bedroom and a full bath - so that youngsters can entertain themselves while adults enjoy quiter time upstairs
Full house Fire-protection sprinkler system
We have not forgotten to build GREEN:
Closed-cell spray foam insulation for superior energy efficiency
Ultra LowE-366 energy efficient windows
Energy Star rated recyclable metal roofing with R-50 insulation
I came to the Smoky mountians with a friend in 2009 for the first time during winter snowfall. It was so pretty! Living in Florida, we missed having seasons. Todd and I (Victoria) came together several more times, and we knew - Smoky Mountains was the place! We bought our cabin in 2010. For now, we are living and working in Tampa FL, and looking forward to making Sevier county our permanent home one day.
Photo taken day after Christmas 2010 when Blue Mountain Lodge was almost complete.
We love DIY projects, and we have restored or made many furniture and decor pieces you will see in our cabin.
